The “T”

Well, today’s workout was a doozy, considering we spent an incredibly fun week in San Diego with family at the beach, eating, and drinking.

Count on CrossFit for the wake up call and the smack in the face to let you know that it’s time to kick your butt into gear again. After all the traveling in July, I am going to use this next month to reset my diet and get into shape before we go to Peru to hike the Inca Trail. I can’t wait, but I hope I am in good enough shape to enjoy it!

We Finally Made the Commitment!

I have always liked the idea of CrossFit, but have never wanted to make the commitment to making CrossFit my primary method of working out because of my fear of getting overly muscular and the cost of joining a box.  Over the last few months, I had started to try some CrossFit workouts on my own to mix things up at the gym because I had found myself getting bored at the gym, especially when the thought of running on the treadmill came to my mind.  I started to enjoy the CrossFit work out of the day (WOD) I would do on my own, but sometimes it was difficult to find the space or right equipment I needed.  After much discussion with my brother about his CrossFit gym and his experiences, along with trying out some CrossFit workouts on my own, I realized I really should trust my instinct and give it a try, as all things pointed to the benefits far outweighing the negatives.

My husband and I have been talking about trying/starting CrossFit for the last few months, but our schedules weren’t matching up, and we couldn’t find a convenient gym we liked.  When my husband heard about the new CrossFit gym opening in the area near our house around the same time we were planning to move back to our house, he talked to me about it, and I convinced him that we should join when we move.

Today was opening day for the new CrossFit gym near our house and we finally made the commitment to join.

Keeping it Paleo in Washington D.C.

It’s been quite awhile since I have had time to create another post. I have been traveling non-stop for work the past few weeks, and in the midst of all of the traveling, we have also had to move. To say the least, it has been incredibly busy! Now that things are settling down, I will have more time to regularly add new posts and work on finishing all of the pages I intend to create for the site. It is certainly still a work in progress, but I promise there is more to come soon!

On to the topic at hand…

Coconut Whipped Cream

This recipe is incredibly delicious and versatile, yet so simple to make!

I usually make this coconut whipped cream recipe to use for waffles, but it is really great for any desserts or drinks/smoothies you make as well.  I like that the whipped cream is not that sweet, as it has a great flavor that is not over powered by the sweetener.  If you would prefer to make it a little sweeter, you can always add more maple syrup or other sweetener before you whip the cream.

(Paleo) Breakfast at Wimbledon

Two of my favorite things…breakfast and tennis!  Couple those with a potential epic tennis match at the my favorite Grand Slam in tennis, and I have myself one awesome Sunday morning.  The only thing that could make this better would be actually sitting with T in Centre Court in England.  Maybe next year…
